finishing touches

The boutique is this Saturday, and the finishing touches are being made. The tea towels are done, and they just need price tags.
The vintage brooches are finished and looking so sweet in the cheese boxes.
The lovely vintage embroidery hoops are tagged and ready to go.
The strawberry crocheted hangers are finished, and waiting to bring a smile to a sweet face.
The mini wall quilts are completed and ready to bring some prettiness to a sweet home.
Labels have been made and...
a most lovely vintage sheet has been hung!
Just a little sneak peak of the display. I can't wait to show you it all! I will be taking lots of photos on Saturday to show you next week.
A pretty gift arrived today from the sweet Helen of Helen Phillips, whose blog is so beautiful and inspiring. She had a giveaway and I was one of the lucky winners. Wrapped so sweetly, and inside...
an pretty needlebook, sweet Cath Kidston buttons, and a darling tag! Thank you so much Helen for such beautiful treasures!!
Hope you are all having a fabulous week, and are enjoying some fall weather!

a beautiful birthday gift

A sweet packaged arrived last week from a dear friend that made my heart full of happiness and pure excitement.
Wrapped in vintage sewing paper...
an adorable birthday card and a glassine bag wrapped with sweet pink flower fabric and filled with...
these pretty treasures that brought the largest smile to my face. I adore vintage tea towels, and these are so beautiful! The tiniest vintage crochet hooks (which I hope to give a try soon), and a gorgeous vintage rose birthday card.
And underneath this pretty tape...
a most beautiful vintage hankie pillow so perfectly sewn and stitched together that makes my heart so happy. Miss Renee of My Vintage Mending keeps me in awe of her talent and the attention to detail that she puts into everything she creates.
The prettiest back with scallops and cute yellow buttons.
Sweet trimmings and ruffles add the perfect touch.
A gift that will be treasured and loved for many, many years, and is already in the perfect place ready for me to sew and stitch away!
Thank you so much Renee for a beautiful gift and friendship! To see more of her amazing creations you can visit Renee's shoppe. Happy Monday and wishing you a lovely week!

chicken wire and a garland

Happy Friday! Hope you have had a wonderful week!
It has been such a busy one for me with getting ready for the boutique, and I can't believe it is one week away! I am so excited, but nervous. ;) I am almost done sewing my goodies and building my display.
I finished a frame that I am proud to say I built!! I painted it with a light grey and added some chicken wire. I was worried that it wouldn't stand, since this is the first time I have ever built something, but it does!! It is not perfect, but it works! ;)
Now, it is ready to hang some sweet crocheted hangers, and other pretties.
While I had the chicken wire out, I thought it would be fun to put some on these vintage frames. I have always loved frames with chicken wire, so I am happy to finally have some!
I am going to use the red one to display some of my vintage brooches at the boutique.
And for the pretty green one, a lovely doily to hang on my wall in my living room. Do you have any frames with chicken wire that you like to display things on?
I wanted to add a little color and prettiness to the top of the grey frames, so I made this cute circle garland. I thought I would show you how I made it! I love sewing paper, and there are so many possibilities with different papers and shapes that you can do.
:: First, I used a circle punch, and cut out about 30 pieces using scrapbook paper. These sweet papers are by Crate Paper called Pretty Party
::Then, pull about 8-10 inches of string out, so you have enough to hang up your garland.
::Next, place the circle piece underneath the foot, and start sewing a straight line down the middle.
::Line up the next circle, and continue this was until your garland is as long as you would like it to be!
::When you are done sewing, you should have a pretty garland!
::That's it! Take some floral Washi tape, and hang to add some prettiness wherever you choose!

Wishing you all a beautiful and crafty fall weekend!!

pretty roses and a winner

Happy Monday!
This weekend went by so fast. Hope you had a wonderful one.
Oh, how I do love roses! I bought this beautiful red rose vintage tablecloth online, and was so excited to get it in the mail last week. It has never been used, even though there are some age stains from being stored for so long.
It is from the 50's and just gorgeous! This will be part of my Christmas collection of vintagey tea towels coming in November. :)
I would love a fabric line with these roses! How beautiful would a quilt be with these pretties! So dreamy!
A sweet vintage rose cross-stitch dresser doily. This is something I would love to start making. I really want to expand on my crocheted edgings and cross-stitch patterns. So, I am on the hunt for a vintage pattern book. Another project on the list!
A banner has been made, along with price tags for the boutique! I just got a pretty vintage sheet in the mail today, and I can't wait to show you what I am using it for!
I just finished this lovely sign for my booth. I used one of my favorite doilies, with a pretty mint green scalloped edging, and some vintage rose fabric. The background is a vintage cloth napkin. I wish I found more than one. How pretty would a whole set of these be at your dinner table! I love all these colors together, and I'm happy with how it turned out.
I am still figuring out where to hang it, but it will go somewhere. Everything is coming together for the boutique, and I have a little less than two more weeks to finish up.
Congratulations Rachel from A Little Bit Vintage and Wildflower Photography Studio on winning my birthday giveaway!! Yay! I will be sending you an email! Thank you again for all your sweet birthday wishes!
Wishing you all a beautiful and lovely fall week!

a vintage rocker

Happy Wednesday!
Thank you so much for all your sweet birthday wishes! They made my birthday extra special and I am so thankful for each of you! If you haven't entered my birthday giveaway, there is still time. I will be announcing the winner on Monday!

Over the weekend I went to the local monthly flea market, and came home with some cute treasures. This vintage rocker was sitting there with a price tag of $18, and as I stared at it, looked underneath, and just thought, should I take home another chair, the man who was selling came over, and said that he would give it to me for $10. Well, with that price it was coming home!
It is small, so I am thinking it is a children's rocking chair, but I am not really sure. I love the detail in the wood, and I am already thinking of what color to paint it. ;)
The seat is in need of prettiness, but I love the buttons securing the fabric. I will definitely be cleaning those up, and re-using them when I recover it. Another project on the list! ;) I still need to take some pictures of my other treasures to show you on Friday.
Last year when I was learning how to quilt, I made this sweet fall patchwork and appliqué table runner with some of my favorite fall fabrics. I love quilting, especially on the smaller scale.
There is something about patchwork, that I just love!
I added some pretty appliqué maple leaves, and stamped fall words around them.
Fall is in the air, or at least I am forcing it to be in my home! Have you started decorating?
I have been busy working away on the items for the boutique, which is coming so quickly! Some cross-stitch phrases ready to be put into a quilt, and the vintage grey one is going to be part of my display.
Some tea towels getting there scalloped edging, and...
the next batch waiting for theirs. I have one more batch of tea towels after these to crochet edgings on, and then they all can be adorned with a dresden flower and vintage doilies. I am a little overwhelmed, but I know it will all get done! So, I am off to work away!
Wishing you all a lovely day!
